The Grand State of Katyuscha is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Omar Jorhakk with an iron fist, and remarkable for its devotion to social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 3.571 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Czach. The average income tax rate is 95%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Furniture Restoration.

The country's famous rainforests are being bulldozed by the mining industry, the Thylacine is protected from hunting and slowly coming back from the brink of extinction, tax evaders are regularly visited by agents of the Katyuscha Blood Tithe, and a recent law has banned homes from having any more than one wheel. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Katyuscha's national animal is the Thylacine, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Deism, and its currency is the Credit.

Katyuscha is ranked 11th in Ankh Mauta and 5,220th in the world for Healthiest Citizens, with 12 Standard Bananas Ingested per capita per day.
