The Giggles of Kalysk is a colossal, socially progressive nation, ruled by Dashie with a fair hand, and notable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 6.444 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Varium City. The average income tax rate is 94%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Information Technology.

Recruitment posters proclaim the army to be both fabulous and fashionable, the government has cut its subsidies for all special interest groups, major cities shut down as their local sports team takes to the field every day, and the government is spending billions of taxpayer Bits to support the Tourism industry. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Kalysk's national animal is the Timber Wolf, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Bit.
