The Nexus of Kako is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Adair with an iron fist, and notable for its parental licensing program. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 20.496 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is effectively ruled by the Department of Defence, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Kako City. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Uranium Mining industry.

Military service is compulsory, military spending is on the increase, Kako is increasingly belligerent on the international stage, and phone taps are frequently carried out by the police. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Kako's national animal is the horn-less unicorn, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the arse-penny.
