The Republic of Jotinha is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Jorge Jesus with an even hand, and renowned for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 8.203 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and the Environment. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of City of Light. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

The airship business has been driven out of the country by strict regulations and high fines, colleges adhere to rigid ethnic quotas for admissions, small businesses are gobbled up almost daily by corporate giants, and several citizens have complained about scientists abducting their pets for experimentation. Crime is totally unknown. Jotinha's national animal is the Tutano azul e branco, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Jota.
