The Dominion of JarVik is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Lord JarViK with an iron fist, and renowned for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 10.883 billion are proud of their wide-ranging civil freedoms, and those who aren't tend to be dragged off the streets by men in dark suits and hustled into cars with tinted windows.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Defence, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of JarVik City. The average income tax rate is 50%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Beef-Based Agriculture and Uranium Mining.

Abortions are routinely performed in JarVik's hospitals, politicians are to be found scavenging bins at night to supplement their income, businesses are forced to bring all work back within the nation’s borders, and priests are being drafted by the church load. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. JarVik's national animal is the polar bear, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the crown.
