The Free Republic of Jakania is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and notable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 19.843 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Religion & Spirituality. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Information Technology and Uranium Mining.

Citizens are enjoying a recent large cut in taxes, Jakania's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region, the police have been swamped with requests to stay up past bedtime, and a study has shown that many parents are too embarrassed to teach their children sex education. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Jakania's national animal is the jaguar, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Liberty.

Jakania is ranked 18th in Capitalist Paradise and 731st in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring 13 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
