The Colony of Isle of the Vatican is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Jay Myers with an even hand, and renowned for its restrictive gun laws. The hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 4.904 billion Tropical Islesians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Education, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Vatican. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Book Publishing and Woodchip Exports.

Fancy dress parties are raided by military police for new recruits, corporate 'hostile takeovers' now involve ICBMs and main battle tanks, scenic mountain valleys are flooded with water as damming projects get underway, and children are sent to either religious or secular schools. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Isle of the Vatican's national animal is the cat, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Christianity, and its currency is the Platinum Dollar.

Isle of the Vatican is ranked 21st in SideWalk Zone and 111,579th in the world for Lowest Overall Tax Burden, scoring -26 on the Hayek Index.
