The Godless Mercantile Nexus of Isla Vista is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, ruled by Colonial Premier Mawaar with an iron fist, and renowned for its museums and concert halls. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 25.09 billion Isla Vistans are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Defence, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Trigo. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology, Uranium Mining, and Automobile Manufacturing industries.

Chess hooliganism is on the rise after the banning of organised sports, fur coats have become the latest fashion trend, most people suffer from some form of hearing loss, and protests are legal but strictly supervised. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Isla Vista's national animal is the Marsupial Tiger, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Golden Bond.

Isla Vista is ranked 6th in Wysteria and 10th in the world for Largest Automobile Manufacturing Sector, scoring 49 on the Henry Ford Productivity Index.
