The Principality of Isemedy is a huge, devout nation, remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 715 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Religion & Spirituality, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Isamath. The average income tax rate is 62%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Suit-clad businessmen have been taking advantage of the relaxed welfare qualifications by shopping with food stamps, bizarre-looking creatures called 'robindogs' dominate wildlife preserves, punitive tariffs protect local industry, and the government snoops on private internet connections. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Isemedy's national animal is the robin, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the diniar.
