The Free Land of Inhuman is a huge, socially progressive nation, notable for its irreverence towards religion. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 998 million are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Newtopia. The average income tax rate is 82%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Mandatory daycare is provided by the government, even the most lowly council pen-pusher has the same political power as a senior minister, traveller camps regularly block five-lane superhighways, and the study of medicine is popular throughout Inhuman. Crime is totally unknown. Inhuman's national animal is the Niko Cat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Dorrito.
