The City-State of Indie-ana is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Jeff Mangum with a fair hand, and renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.768 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Education, and Social Equality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Indie-Ana. The average income tax rate is 79%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Book Publishing and Information Technology.

The government recently relinquished its monopoly on the mail service, mothers are routinely abandoning their children in the name of women's rights, the rich are forced to sell their cars to pay for more police to prevent their cars from being stolen, and school uniforms are compulsory. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Indie-ana's national animal is the Vampire Squid, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is a major religion, and its currency is the Godspeed.
