The Empire of Imperial Republic of Usio is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by First President Thomas H Morgan with an even hand, and notable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 1.188 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Religion & Spirituality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Lybar-Koln. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 45%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Arms Manufacturing industries.

The nation's first space rocket -- sponsored by Pepsi and shaped like an enormous soda bottle -- is being developed, shaken martini sales have soared in nations surrounding Imperial Republic of Usio, the minority inevitably have their addenda vetoed, and the government has taken a 'sort it out yourselves' approach to fighting malaria. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Imperial Republic of Usio's national animal is the Cave lion, and its currency is the Mark.
