The Gynocracy of Icaunis is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by the Council of Seven with an iron fist, and remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 5.218 billion are proud of their wide-ranging civil freedoms, and those who aren't tend to be dragged off the streets by men in dark suits and hustled into cars with tinted windows.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Kanin Nos. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 50%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Arms Manufacturing.

Abortions are routinely performed in Icaunis's hospitals, 'A is for Annulment' is a popular children's song, people are now classified as male, female, or genderqueer, and the government has enacted freedom of information. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Icaunis's national animal is the Raven, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is the Cult of Nammu, and its currency is the Credit.

Icaunis is ranked 46th in Nordic Lands and 68,342nd in the world for Largest Welfare Programs, scoring 15 on the Safety Net Mesh Density Rating.
