The Republic of Ianisos is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by leader with an even hand, and remarkable for its parental licensing program. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of City of Dreams. The average income tax rate is 68%. A tiny private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Crowds of flag-burning protesters tend to accidentally become crowds of burning protesters, fewer people are bathing as citizens must show ration stamps before they can turn on their faucets, ten-year-olds regularly found their own political parties, and strange looking men with big red noses are found hiding behind bushes and inside dustbins. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ianisos's national animal is the eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is religion, and its currency is the coin.
