The Grand People's Republic of Hypparchia is a colossal, safe nation, ruled by sir Pierce Mosley with an even hand, and remarkable for its hatred of cheese. Its compassionate population of 5.249 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Equity. The average income tax rate is 99%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Criminals are thrown to the Phoenixs to repay their debt to society, punitive tariffs protect local industry, the nation is reliant on the principle of mutually assured destruction to maintain its security, and the wearing and manufacture of fur apparel is banned. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Hypparchia's national animal is the Phoenix, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Sublimism, and its currency is the Hypparchian phokyd.

Hypparchia is ranked 35th in Imperial Britain and 93,718th in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -5 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
