The United Kingdom of Hymernia is a massive, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate population of 1.128 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Healthcare and Social Welfare are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Spagadabat. The average income tax rate is 70%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Information Technology.

A government program is underway to revitalize Hymernia's beaches, radio shows frequently feature people denouncing religion, Hymernia's schoolchildren are manufactured into a segregated bunch of soldiers, religious zealots, and computer technicians, and the Eagle is a protected species. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Hymernia's national animal is the Eagle, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Rupex.
