The Chicken-Fried Zombies of Hydroponic Nation is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Hydroponicus with a fair hand, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 19.283 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, liberal individuals is mainly concerned with Education, although the Environment and Healthcare are secondary priorities. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

The government has cut its subsidies for all special interest groups, cheese has become the new icon of political dissent, government officials frequently cut taxes as a distraction from antics with their secretaries, and it's a common sight to see angry commuters with grenade launchers mounted on their vehicles. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Hydroponic Nation's national animal is the Wombat, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Funyon.
