The Free Land of Hiroshowshe is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by the people with a fair hand, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.493 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Healthcare and Social Equality are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Sin-Jang. The average income tax rate is 46%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism, Book Publishing, and Pizza Delivery industries.

Councils up and down the country wrangle over legal matters, drunk drivers are sent to rehabilitation paid for by the government, most of the nation's wealthy aristocrats are dentists, and the richest citizens live in sheltered private citadels. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a serious problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Hiroshowshe's national animal is the Jaguar, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Shell.
