The Kingdom of Hemmia is a huge, economically powerful nation, ruled by King Adolf Fredrik with an even hand, and notable for its complete lack of public education. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 949 million are free to succeed or fail in life on their own merits; the successful tend to enjoy an opulent (but moralistic) lifestyle, while the failures can be seen crowding out most jails.

The tiny government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Commerce, and Religion & Spirituality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Frisborg. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 2%. A healthy private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Trout Farming and Uranium Mining.

Children are raised bilingual from an early age, airship use has soared while property values beneath their routes have plummeted, eight year-olds with lemonade stands have been known to be locked up on charges of embezzlement, and the government encourages conflict abroad to increase arms sales. Crime is pervasive. Hemmia's national animal is the skvader, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Mark.
