The Republic of Havland is a colossal, safe nation, ruled by Brit Gregorsonn with an even hand, and notable for its national health service. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5.195 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The enormous government juggles the competing demands of Social Equality, Education, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Hovedstad. The average income tax rate is 30%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Basket Weaving and Pizza Delivery.

Crowds of flag-burning protesters tend to accidentally become crowds of burning protesters, it is illegal to make racist remarks in public, postmen have been arrested in job lots for selling junk mail as home insulation, and education and welfare spending are on the rise. Crime is well under control. Havland's national animal is the Raven, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Solv.

Havland is ranked 20th in The Heartland and 11,556th in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring 11 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
