Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 5.283 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Healthcare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 51%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

College students make ends meet by selling their kidneys, citizens are forced to donate blood once every three months, politicians are often seen with soldiers pointing guns at their heads, and strict term limits have been applied to all elected offices. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Hairy Toed Sloth's national animal is the screaming tictic, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is a major religion, and its currency is the beatle.
