The United Republic of Groundisred is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Magistrate René Leynaud with an even hand, and notable for its devotion to social welfare. Its hard-nosed population of 4.138 billion enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Education, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Law & Order receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Veneum. The average income tax rate is 92%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The government seizes private property for the 'good of the people', new safety regulations require all cars manufactured in Groundisred to be bombproof, Groundisred is notorious for its citizens' infidelity, and citizens wishing to leave the country must surrender half their wealth to the government. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Groundisred's national animal is the Tiger, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Gaerde.
