The Holy Empire of Griffen Claw is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by King Crimson with an even hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 8.858 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Law & Order and Education are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Griffington GC. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 87%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Information Technology and Gambling.

Schoolchildren have twice-weekly sex education classes, the country has been 'going shopping' by annexing nearby nations for their resources, children as young as eight can be found working in factories, and the government seizes private property for the 'good of the people'. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Griffen Claw's national animal is the Griffin, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Crimson Dawn-ism, and its currency is the Crimson coin.
