The Silicatium utopia of Great technology is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, ruled by Zalgo with an even hand, and renowned for its keen interest in outer space. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Esthar. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.

The government helps teach children how to kill a man from six paces, all telephone traffic is monitored for 'national security reasons', Pinkerton agents are called in to forcibly break up white collar strikes, and cremation is compulsory for the deceased. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Great technology's national animal is the robotic bunny, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the golden silicium.
