The Empire of Great Ceylon is a massive, safe nation, ruled by a Prime Minister with an even hand, and remarkable for its devotion to social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 3.443 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ceylon. The average income tax rate is 66%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology, Tourism, and Uranium Mining industries.

Great Ceylon's Medieval Faire is renowned as one of the best in the region, punitive tariffs protect local industry, Great Ceylon's schoolchildren are manufactured into a segregated bunch of soldiers, religious zealots, and computer technicians, and most governmental positions are filled by zealous nationalists. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Great Ceylon's national animal is the Horse, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Shilling.
