The Imperial Hierarchy of Grand Widerstand is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by Primearch Jakob O'Brian with an even hand, and renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 4.509 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Alexandria. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 42%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Automobile Manufacturing, and Tourism industries.

Seafood restaurants assure customers 'If it lives in the sea, it's on our menu', criminals rejoice in the streets as the entire police force is sent away on a training retreat, Desert Raptor racing stadiums are open 24/7, and the military has had to quell a recent insurrection by uninsured revolutionaries. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Grand Widerstand's national animal is the Desert Raptor , which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Imperial-Catholocism, and its currency is the Imperial Credit.
