The Majestic Empire of Gradenk is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by President S with an even hand, and renowned for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 14.178 billion enjoy some of the most opulent lifestyles in the region, unless they are unemployed or working-class, in which case they are variously starving to death or crippled by easily preventable diseases.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Gradenk City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 3%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Automobile Manufacturing.

New safety regulations require all cars manufactured in Gradenk to be bombproof, college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys, inter-species marriages are ignored by the government, and corporations donate huge sums of money to favored politicians. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Gradenk's national animal is the Tiger, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Ringgit.

Gradenk is ranked 18th in Capitalist Paradise and 792nd in the world for Largest Trout Fishing Sector, scoring 12 on the Nemo Depletion Efficiency Index.
