The Free Land of Gobotopia is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by Redcloak with a fair hand, and notable for its unlimited-speed roads. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 4.671 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Azure City. The average income tax rate is 98%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Gobotopia's soft-touch approach to diplomacy has made it known as the 'push-over' of the region, elections have become procedural nightmares due to voters persistently rejecting candidates, reports of attacks by bright purple sixty-foot high spiders have recently shot up, and highschool principals regularly send armed truancy patrols to drag problem students to school. Crime is relatively low. Gobotopia's national animal is the turkey vulture, its national religion is The Dark One, and its currency is the spork.
