The Federal Republic of Gladiis amet is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.488 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Gladius vires. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 80%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The government has declined to declare any particular religion as its 'official' one, artists are pillars of society, rag-wearing teachers are often mistaken for homeless people, and an increasing percentage of the population's youth have homosexual parents. Crime is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Gladiis amet's national animal is the Dragon, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Exems.
