The Kingdom of Ghiscari is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Grazdan the Great with an iron fist, and remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 2.268 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The enormous, corrupt, moralistic government devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Social Equality and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ghis. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 29%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Motorists' locations are constantly tracked by intelligence and law enforcement agencies, conscientious objectors are hanged as traitors, the government regularly hires contractors to construct high rise apartments, and theoretical science is only theoretical. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Ghiscari's national animal is the twin-headed harpy, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Glorious Cult of the God-King, and its currency is the obol.
