The Republic of Garantina is a colossal, devout nation, renowned for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 9.963 billion live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, liberal, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Religion & Spirituality, and Social Welfare. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Book Publishing and Cheese Exports.

Teenagers across the country are celebrating the defeat of a national curfew bill, euthanasia is legal, Garantina's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region, and citizens recently voted in favour of declaring bubblewrap an 'abomination of nature'. Crime is a major problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Garantina's national animal is the deer, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.
