The Papacy of Galopis is a massive, devout nation, ruled by Pope John Paul III with an even hand, and notable for its complete lack of prisons. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 3.347 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The tiny, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Commerce, and Religion & Spirituality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Calais. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 3%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Uranium Mining.

The government is reining in public spending, scenic mountain valleys are flooded with water as damming projects get underway, citizens are enjoying a recent large cut in taxes, and inheritance tax has recently been abolished. Crime is a problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Galopis's national animal is the Robin, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Roman Catholicism, and its currency is the Mint.
