The Allied States of Gallien is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Donovan Velez with an iron fist, and renowned for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 1.023 billion are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Rome. The average income tax rate is 83%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Information Technology and Book Publishing.

GP clinics are inundated by patients requesting prescriptions for alcohol, all forms of advertising are banned, Gallien's leader goes out to lunch surrounded by large men in dark glasses, and government officials have to mortgage their homes to make ends meet. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Gallien's national animal is the Wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Christianity, and its currency is the Credit.

Gallien is ranked 1,503rd in 10000 Islands and 82,260th in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -2 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
