The Last Inexorable Empire of Finium is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Emperor Astracies with an iron fist, and renowned for its restrictive gun laws. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 5.478 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Law & Order and Religion & Spirituality are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Hallsind. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 47%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Uranium Mining industry.

Calling out of the blue has become taboo, the roads are notorious throughout the region for their peril, the country's famous rainforests are being bulldozed by the mining industry, and record sales of 'child-whacking sticks' have been reported. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Finium's national animal is the Fae, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Finian Orthodoxy, and its currency is the Bancor.

Finium is ranked 2nd in The Rose League and 10,540th in the world for Largest Public Sector, scoring 21 on the Bureaucratic Comprehensiveness Rating Scale Index.
