The Republic of Fictions is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by the Central Committe with an even hand, and remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 7.222 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Majaal. The average income tax rate is 97%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Fewer people are bathing as citizens must show ration stamps before they can turn on their faucets, the government is a law unto itself, the government has ordered a moratorium on referenda, and photographers have to apply for a license to photograph the Central Committe. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Fictions's national animal is the Desert Fox, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Zhan Islam and Christianity, and its currency is the erībī.

Fictions is ranked 17th in Tyrrhenia and 89,912th in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring -78 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
