The Minarchist Republic of Faith Hope Charity is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by Nos Populus with a fair hand, and renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 6.82 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, liberal individuals is effectively ruled by the Department of Commerce, with areas such as Social Welfare and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Laissez-Faire. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling, Information Technology, and Uranium Mining industries.

Young children are regularly seen wagering pocket money at blackjack tables, elections have become procedural nightmares due to voters persistently rejecting candidates, most governmental positions are filled by zealous nationalists, and parents are held criminally responsible for their children's crimes. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Faith Hope Charity's national animal is the Falcon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Quid Pro Quo.
