Its compassionate population of 20.592 billion enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, the Environment, and Social Welfare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Tranquility. The average income tax rate is 69%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The nation is experiencing a severe shortage of sporting events, citizens are allowed to rise or fall based on their own merits, Equility has designated Tranquility as its capital city, and Chaucerin has just been declared ruler of Equility in an international press conference. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Equility's national animal is the Tiger, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Equiliant.
