The Northern Confederated States of Ehrereich is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by Jacob Ward with an even hand, and remarkable for its complete lack of public education. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 16.549 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is effectively ruled by the Department of Defence, with areas such as the Environment and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Kronnenberg. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 64%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Information Technology.

The nation's infamous boot camp is more brutal than most battlefields, thousands of former welfare recipients are in a revolutionary uproar as the rest of society is enjoying a hefty tax break, conductors wield diamond-encrusted batons to fit in with their freshly gilded surroundings, and protesters are up in arms over new nuclear power stations. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ehrereich's national animal is the Dire Wolf, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Kriegerrand.
