The Allied States of Edo-Tokyo is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and renowned for its national health service. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 5.573 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Social Welfare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Edo-Tokyo City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 78%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

Several citizens have complained about scientists abducting their pets for experimentation, businesses are forced to bring all work back within the nation’s borders, citizens are expected to be proficient in at least five languages, and graffiti artists spend lengthy periods of time in jail. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Edo-Tokyo's national animal is the Black-headed Gull , which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Sakura.

Edo-Tokyo is ranked 9th in Asia and 4,544th in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring 6 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
