The Dominion of East Beleriand is a gargantuan, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and remarkable for its hatred of cheese. Its compassionate population of 18.047 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, the Environment, and Public Transport. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of East Beleriand City. The average income tax rate is 89%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Crime is on the rise as DNA sampling has been all but outlawed, the government extracts trade concessions from poor nations in exchange for humanitarian aid, expats return home to a government devoid of social and environmental agencies, and only fully-fledged members of MENSA are allowed to vote. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. East Beleriand's national animal is the Gwaihir, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Mellon.

East Beleriand is ranked 14th in Middle Earth and 101,054th in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -12 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
