The Kingdom of Drenetharada is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by the parliment with a fair hand, and remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 3.15 billion love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and the Environment. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Kanaratcha. The average income tax rate is 90%, and even higher for the wealthy. A tiny private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.

'The Anti-Government Hour' is a popular programme on many of Drenetharada's radio stations, prime real estate is devoted to wind farms and solar energy generators, the internet has been placed under government control, and postmen have been arrested in job lots for selling junk mail as home insulation. Crime is totally unknown. Drenetharada's national animal is the snow leopard, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the danuth dollar.
