The Republic of Dorsai Exile is a colossal, socially progressive nation, ruled by Nemo Speaker of The Dorsai with an iron fist, and remarkable for its national health service. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 7.693 billion are proud of their wide-ranging civil freedoms, and those who aren't tend to be dragged off the streets by men in dark suits and hustled into cars with tinted windows.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Amanda. The average income tax rate is 81%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism, Book Publishing, and Uranium Mining industries.

The new 'Things We Stole From Other Countries' exhibition at the National Museum of Antiquities is a hit, children as young as twelve are conscripted into the armed forces, the airship business has been driven out of the country by strict regulations and high fines, and Red Cross demand for body bags are rising while sutures are decreasing. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Dorsai Exile's national animal is the Wolf, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Credit.
