The People's Republic of Docopotamia is a huge, economically powerful nation, ruled by Dr Jones with an even hand, and renowned for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 986 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Docopolopolis. The average income tax rate is 59%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Book Publishing and Furniture Restoration.

The new 'Things We Stole From Other Countries' exhibition at the National Museum of Antiquities is a hit, scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, euthanasia is legal, and the nation has welcomed its expats back with open arms. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Docopotamia's national animal is the Cthulu Midget, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Doc.
