Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 18.149 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Gypaetus. The average income tax rate is 70%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

Terrified tympanists are finding themselves on the front lines armed only with kettledrums, bicycle parking sheds sprout like mushrooms near rail stations after cars are banned, the government is giving peace a chance, and kids laugh off vandalism and arson as "just fun". Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Discordia Magna's national animal is the Lammergeier, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Plotz.
