The Holy Empire of Derpilvania is a huge, safe nation, remarkable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, cynical population of 571 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Commerce, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Derpsonville. The average income tax rate is 71%, and even higher for the wealthy. A robust private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Soda Sales, and Tourism industries.

Police officers have been re-kitted with designer uniforms and gold plated handcuffs, eminent domain has been abolished, a National Academy regulates grammar and usage, and strategic bombers are being converted into preschools. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Derpilvania's national animal is the Derpbug, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Derpal.

Derpilvania is ranked 343rd in Europe and 83,363rd in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -3 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
