The Most Serene Republic of Der Moserreich is a huge, economically powerful nation, ruled by Baron von Moser with an even hand, and renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 995 million are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as the Environment and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Der Moserreich City. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Arms Manufacturing, and Information Technology industries.

There has been a series of riots between local cannibals and health food advocates, mining is the nation's most dangerous occupation, radio shows frequently feature people denouncing religion, and citizens drive tank-like vehicles with mounted machine guns. Crime is crippling. Der Moserreich's national animal is the igneous rock, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the schadenfreude.
