The Holy Empire of Dephire is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by Renuvian Skragg with a fair hand, and renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 13.939 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The small, liberal government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as the Environment and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Galva. The average income tax rate is 39%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Automobile Manufacturing, and Arms Manufacturing industries.

Students abandon classrooms for online education, morning coffees are no longer the same since the disappearance of newspapers, cars speed down national highways while drivers sleep at the wheel, and kids laugh off vandalism and arson as "just fun". Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Dephire's national animal is the Bra'tul, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Mixed, and its currency is the Briske.
