The Constitutional Monarchy of Democratia Populo is a massive, genial nation, ruled by Emperor Alexander with an even hand, and renowned for its hatred of cheese. Its compassionate, hard-working population of 3.327 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, the Environment, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Rafafeld. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 51%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Travellers are often forcibly evicted by torch-bearing mobs, Pinkerton agents are called in to forcibly break up white collar strikes, wildlife near farms is slowly becoming extinct, and parents live in fear of governmental 'child protection' squads. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Democratia Populo's national animal is the Lion, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Valor.
