The Sigh of Relief of Daynor is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Eric Draven with a fair hand, and remarkable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 6.261 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, liberal individuals is effectively ruled by the Department of Commerce, with areas such as the Environment and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Topid City. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Arms Manufacturing, and Book Publishing industries.

Motorists must pay to enter inner-cities during peak hours, door-to-door salesmen are frequently beaten up by 'vigilantes', urban high-volume mailers now receive their mail via chauffer-driven limousines, and Daynor's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling. Daynor's national animal is the South Pacific lamp-shade monkey, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Daynorism, and its currency is the The South Pacific dollar.

Daynor is ranked 4,343rd in the South Pacific and 86,950th in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring -50 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
