The Allied States of DaWoad is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by Jarek Mace with a fair hand, and renowned for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 9.092 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Defence, although Education and Commerce are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Haven. The average income tax rate is 99%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Automobile Manufacturing and Tourism.

Same-sex marriages are increasingly common, DaWoad's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region, citizens are encouraged to report friends, family members or co-workers who seem depressed to the government for "counselling", and students are known to arrive at school in their pyjamas. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. DaWoad's national animal is the hawk, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the loon.

DaWoad is ranked 14th in Tyrrhenia and 87,543rd in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring -54 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
